"And It Is All Yellow!" ~ 10am - 2pm
Perhaps the pollen kept most everyone away, or perhaps it was Spring Break decompression, but we might have set a record for the fewest volunteers at an official workday -- seven of us gathered at the park for a cross-noon trail blazing session.
We started at Point 2, the trailhead for Trail Section 2, and got to work clearing the trail surface (about 1/4 mile of the route had already been defoliated the previous weekend). Then it was full-on clearing all the way to the Day 1 stopping point, and a leisurely walk to Point 3.
Along the already-cleared length of trail we cleaned out a debris dam in a shallow ditch the trail crosses so the trail will drain better. Perhaps the silliest part of the tweaking on Trail Section 2 was re-clearing the path through large swaths of May Apples.
From Point 3 to Point 4 we snipped extraneous branches from the trail's edge, rerouted part of Trail Section 3 and reconnected it to Trail Section 4. As we backtracked to Point 2, we snipped and pruned a bit more.
Once again, Friends -- thanks, y'all for coming out and being a HUGE part of your Chattahoochee Bend State Park!
